That was the coolest thing I've ever been to in my life. The opening act, Snake River Conspiracy, could've been better, but they did OK. But after the 30 minute intermission, Paz finally came out and played a fantastic violin solo. She is so incredibly beautiful and talented. The solo transitioned into a heavier version of Renholder. The band members entered the stage one by one when their parts came. Paz was already on-stage, then came Josh (I think), then Billy, then Troy. Then a Maynard-look-alike ran across the stage for some reason, but eventually Maynard did join the rest of APC on-stage, wearing a black wig with pink glow-in-the-dark streaks. After a perfect rendition of Renholder, they jumped right into Thinking of You. Near the end of the song (the long "thinking of you" part), Maynard put his hand down his pants and played with little Maynardo, then turned his back to the audience for the rest of the song. It was pretty funny. Then they played Magdalena. This song seemed really intense. The music and the lighting were incredible, and the crowd was shouting every lyric along with Maynard. After Magdalena was the 3 Libras remix-type thing, followed by 3 Libras. Every song they played was fantastic. After 3 Libras, Maynard finally started talking to the audience, and spraying us with his genital dew, which was actually silly string. While he was taking off his pants, Maynard told us how he heard that anal sex was invented in Minneapolis, and got the crowd all pumped up, only to tell them later that he was mistaken, and it was invented in Duluth instead. Then they played Brena and Orestes, and both were unbelievably awesome. After Orestes, Maynard prefaced the next song, saying that he was excited to get back home tomorrow, so he could "bust out the old porno collection and start gettin' busy." He said the next song was called "Fuck Britney Spears... in the ass." Apparently it was the tapeworm cover, but Danny Lohner didn't join them to play. It was a good song. Rose came next, which was also great. At the end of the song, Billy and Maynard sandwiched Paz between them, and afterwards, Maynard said to the crowd, "Paz, that was so sexy," and ejaculated some silly string into the audience. Then Maynard said, "This next song is what our day is all about," and they started Sleeping Beauty with a light guitar intro. Afterwards, Maynard said, "Ok, this next song is really what our day is about. Over." They played a heavier version of Over, and it was fantastic. They played Thomas next, and in the middle of the song, Paz just dropped her bass and dove into the crowd, despite the "no bodysurfing rule." And she managed to get back onstage just in time to finish the song. She's so awesome. Maynard courteously thanked us all for coming, and said the next song was called "Going back to Cali, Cali, Cali," before they played Judith. Judith was incredible. Before playing Ashes to Ashes, Maynard said the next song was called "It just keeps on ticking." A large easter bunny appeared in the background on a platform, and did a little dance for a part of the song. Then three or four Maynard look-alikes/impersonators went on stage, decorating Maynard with a pink feather boa thing, and a sparkly miniskirt. Paz kept signalling for the easter bunny to come back onstage while she was playing, and he finally did near the end of the song. Afterwards, Maynard said "C'mon, I almost spilt my fucking drink, the least you could do is take your clothes off!" The band finally finished with The Hollow, and they played the final chorus slower than usual. They let the final notes of the song sustain, and ran around the stage in joy that the tour was finally over. Paz dropped her bass, threw her pick into the crowd, and rode around piggyback on Billy, as Maynard threw his feathery thing into the crowd, as well as about 5 water bottles. Josh had some cool glow-in-the-dark drumsticks, but I'm not sure if he threw those out or not. Through the whole concert it looked like they were all having a great time, and the audience was too. It was unbelievably fun, and I need to thank Maynard, Paz, Billy, Troy, and Josh for that. You are all awesome. Maynard has incredible stage presence. Whenever he faces in your direction, it seems like he is looking directly into your eyes, and I think he was actually looking at me a couple of times. Among the incredible music, lighting, background scenery, other things I enjoyed were Paz's beautiful smile, Maynard's hilarious commentary and his unique stage antics. I'm glad I went to the last show on the tour, I'm sure some of this stuff wouldn't have happened if it weren't the last show. After the concert, my friends and I ran to the service entrace, where the tour bus was parked. We waited for nearly two hours outside, with a couple of assholes/security guards who wouldn't let us go within 200 feet of the tour bus. While we were waiting, I noticed that one girl got a part of Maynard's pink feathery thing, and a couple of people grabbed some of the setlists that the band threw into the crowd. Finally, around 12:30 am, the security guards left, and my friends and I approached the tour bus. I kept my distance, trying to respect the band's privacy, but my friend went up to the bus door and knocked. Billy came around the corner and almost ran into him. Billy said he didn't know we were waiting out here (because of the security guards keeping us in our little "cells"), and he would grab a hat, and get the other band members, and they would come down and sign stuff. Maynard came down first, saying "Ok, you guys must be fucking retarded standing out here in the cold. If I sign some stuff, will you go home?" We agreed, and he signed an ominous "M" on all of our things, and shook our hands. He is the funniest and most unique man I've ever seen (and now I can say I've met him). Everyone congratulated him on a great show. Billy came down next. Someone said that they loved the bunny, and Billy said that they didn't even know who it was until the end of the show, when they found out it was their stage manager. Billy signed his first name, shook hands, and went back up to the bus. Troy came down next, and signed our stuff. Unfortunately, Paz and Josh never came down. It's understandable, I'm not offended or anything, but I would have really liked to meet them (especially Paz). Overall, it was an unbelievable experience. It was so cool that I thought I was dreaming, but then I realized I couldn't even dream of anything this cool, so it had to be real. Thanks APC. -
